Note: Currently, Google Chromecast, Google Home, and Nest devices are not supported.
Wired
We do not currently support wired connections for devices by default, as our wireless connection is currently more than enough for most devices.
If you believe you device requires a wired connection, please fill out a ticket here, and we will get back with you as soon as possible.
Wireless
If you recently reset your password you will need to forget the network and then re-join the network with your new password. You can view how to forget the network on your devices at the bottom of this page.
To do this you will want to connect to the "Franklin College" Wi-Fi network from your device's Wi-Fi settings. And then follow the next steps based on your device:
iOS
1. Open the Settings app and navigate to Wi-Fi
2. Choose the "Franklin College" Wi-Fi Network
3. When prompted enter your Franklin College credentials
4. You will then be asked to accept a certificate, accept it
5. Within a few seconds, you should be connected
Android
- Open the Settings app and navigate to Wi-Fi
- Choose the "Franklin College" Wi-Fi Network
- You will then be prompted with a new window with the following options. Please change to this:
- EAP method - PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication – MSCHAPv2
- CA Certificate – "Use System Certificates"- Domain – “franklincollege.edu”
- Identity - Your username (first part of email i.e john.smith)
- Password - Your password - Click Save and within a few seconds, you should be connected
ChromeOS
- Click the Wi-Fi icon in the lower-right corner of the screen
- Click the gear icon.
- Under Network, click the > next to Wi-Fi.
- Select the "Franklin College" Wi-Fi network.
- You will then be prompted with a new window with the following options. Please change to this:
- EAP method - PEAP
- Phase 2 Authentication – MSCHAPv2
- CA Certificate – "Default"
- Identity - "Your Username"
- Password - "Your Password" - Click Save and within a few seconds, you should be connected
If this does not get you connected then you might need to try the following steps:
- Log out of your Chromebook so you are at the login screen as if you first powered it on.
- Now connect to "Franklin College" and follow the above steps.
- You should now be connected and you can now sign back in.

Windows
(Please note that Windows 7 is now at the end of life. Starting on January 2020 we will no longer support Windows 7 computers on our network. You can find out more here)
1. Click on the start button to open the start menu
2. Click on the gear icon on the left to open the setting app
3. Navigate to "Network & Internet" > "Wi-Fi" > "Show available networks"
4. Choose the "Franklin College" network
5. When prompted enter your credentials
6. Within a few seconds, you should be connected
macOS
1. Click on the Apple menu from the top left of the screen and then select System Preferences
2. Navigate to "Network" > "Wi-Fi" > "Network name"
3. From there click on the "Franklin College" network
4. From there you will be prompted to enter your credentials, enter them.
5. Within a few seconds, you should be connected
Gaming or Streaming Device
We have a dedicated network for gaming & streaming devices. The network name is "Gaming and Streaming", and the password to access it is now "gamesandstreams".
How to forget the Network on your Device
iOS
- Open the Settings app
- Go to Wi-FI
- Then click icon next to "Franklin College"
- Then Choose "Forget This Network"
- Now you can re-join the network using the above instructions.
Android
- Open the Settings app
- Got to Wi-Fi and Network
- Press and Hold on the "Franklin College" network and choose "Forget"
- Now you can re-join the network using the above instructions.
Windows
- On the very bottom right of the computer find the Wi-Fi icon or the Globe icon
- Find the "Franklin College" network and right-click and choose "Forget"
- Now you can re-join the network using the above instructions.
macOS
- Click on the Wi-Fi icon on the top right of your Mac and then choose "Network Preferences"
- From the new window that opens choose the "Advanced" button
- This will show you a list of connected networks. Find "Franklin College", click it, and then click the "-" button to remove it.
- Click "OK", and then re-join the "Franklin College" network using the above instructions.
Chromebooks
- Click on the Wi-Fi icon on the bottom right of your Chromebook screen
- Then click on the drop-down arrow on the Wi-Fi icon to show available Wi-Fi networks
- Right-click on "Franklin College" and choose "Forget"
- Now you can re-join the network using the above instructions.
