Instead of creating individual questions one by one in Moodle, you can choose to import multiple questions into the question bank all at once. Moodle has a number of different formats that can be used to import questions into Question bank categories.
Use the simple Aiken format to import the text file directly into the Moodle question bank. However, this method is for Multiple Choice ONLY.
Step 1. Format your Multiple Choice questions to the Aiken format. Then save the file to text format (.txt):
The Aiken format is a very simple way of creating multiple choice questions using a clear human-readable format. Here are two examples of the format:
What is the correct answer to this question?
A. Is it this one?
B. Maybe this answer?
C. Possibly this one?
D. Must be this one!
Which LMS has the most quiz import formats?
Note: The question must be all on one line. Each answer must start with a single-letter character, followed by a period '.' or a bracket ')', then a space. The answer line must immediately follow, starting with "ANSWER:" and then giving the appropriate letter.
Step 2. Go to your Moodle course page, click on the gear in the top right corner, then click “More”. Scroll down to “Question bank” click on Questions.
Step 3. On the Question Bank page, click on the "Import" button at the top of Question Bank
Step 4. On the "Import questions from file" page, under "File format" choose Aiken format, under "Import from file upload" browse for the .txt file you have created in Step 1, Upload this file
Step 5. The next page says Parsing questions from the import file, click "Continue" at the bottom of the page
Step 6. All your questions are now in the Question Bank and ready for use!
